GC: You will have before you the bodies and enquiring minds of those present in this room, who seek advice, counsel and guidance as to the development and understanding of the various phases of the psychic work manifested through Edgar Cayce. You will answer the questions they will ask regarding same.
-
EC: Yes, we have the enquiring minds of those gathered here, also the psychic work as may be done through those channels here.
-
In seeking advice and counsel as respecting development of various phases of psychic forces as may be manifest to a material world, each should first know the meaning of those forces as may be made manifest, also the various phases of such phenomena, that the application of that as may be gained through such channels may bring those desires for the furtherance of the IDEALS as may be gained by individuals that would study or apply such truths as may be had through such channels; for, as has been given, there will not be a sign given, nor proof shown, other THAN to those who have so consecrated their own efforts in such a manner as to be in accord WITH same; for he that would seek the Father must believe that He is, and that He may manifest Himself THROUGH those experiences in the material plane as of old; for He is the same yesterday, today and forever, and in and through his creatures that He has raised, through their attunement with His laws, HIS love, do such truths, such messages, come, that there may be that rod in Jesse as has been promised. “He that putteth his hand to the plow and turneth back is WORSE than the infidel!” He that would know the truth and doeth it not, to him it is sin! and sin, when it begetteth its generation, must bring those of tribulation, trials, torments; for EVERY WHIT must be paid! Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is it possible for preconceived ideas to influence information given through the readings? (A) May influence the interpretation an individual may make upon same. In that manner may make an influence upon that given. He seeking, seeks to find that concept of HIS idea as respecting his ideal. Hence he that seeks may find.
-
(Q) What shall be the future policy in respect to the management of the Association? (A) This, as we find, has been well set forth in that as has been given, of the necessity for such a material manifestation in an Association, and as to the qualifications necessary for individual and individuals who would minister such information as may be received in the various phases of the phenomena itself.
In the future policy, should be that as the PRESENT policy, or as has EVER been. Be sure that everything is done in decency and order, and there is not the attempt to measure spiritual things by material standards, nor MATERIAL things by SPIRITUAL standards; for each to their own place. All are not to be prophets, nor all readers, nor all ministers, but each according to that as has been given through the ministry of each individual’s self in their various phases and spheres of development. Let that mind be in each as was in Him, that “if ye believe in me, greater things than I have done YE SHALL DO! for I go to the Father, and as ye live in me ye may live in the Father also.”
-
(Q) Will it be to the best interest of all that readings henceforth be given only at Virginia Beach? (A) There will be many an occasion when for the best interests of all concerned that this be adhered to closely; yet occasions will arise when the necessity of the furtherance of the work, that same be given elsewhere; for did not the Master find it well, that while from Jerusalem was there to go forth for the ministering to the world, yet in many a place, many a land, was the works shown forth, that those that sat in darkness might see the light, and even unto those that were not of the house of Israel did He also shew forth; even to those that were in darkness, that there might be planted - as it were - the seed that has grown, has shone forth in that that has been accomplished in HIS name in MANY a land! So, in considering the ministry as may be had through the various phases of the DEVELOPMENTS of such ministry, there needs be oft those conditions to be met as is NECESSARY, that it may be not only to individuals but to groups, to classes, to masses. First must it come to the individual, THEN to the classes, then to masses.
-
(Q) Give proper instructions to the management of the Association as to the first steps to take to secure funds for the Association? (A) This has been ministered as to how this should be accomplished! Try that, at least once! In the same sincerity as the ministry all is made will the response be, for He is faithful that has promised, that “As ye show forth that ye have gained by the knowledge of the indwelling of the Christ Consciousness in self to others, so WILL the HARVEST be.” He that climbs up any other way becomes the thief and the robber to his own self!
-
(Q) Is it advisable at this time for Edgar Cayce, Gertrude Cayce and Gladys Davis to institute legal proceedings against publishers of papers recently printing libelous statements detrimental to them? (A) What’s to be gained by same, save contention and hard feelings as would and must arise from same? “He that smiteth thee on the one cheek, turn the other also.” Do thou likewise!
-
(Q) What was the purpose of their recent trouble in New York? (A) The answer would depend upon what phase of the experiences necessary for the individuals as were directly connected or associated with same, or those surrounding same; for it, the act, one of jealousy on the part of those that feared that truth MIGHT prevail, and that those who acted in such a manner as to discredit those that were the principals was another act that THEY might be defeated in their OWN selves; for those that were as principals, that they might know that even in that as MAN calls sin may come THROUGH for the activities of Him who directs ALL things good TO those that seek His face. Study that!
-
(Q) What benefits will be derived by Edgar Cayce and those associated with him from this trouble? (A) That would depend upon the use of the experience in the lives of all concerned. IS same turned in a manner that would make for bigotry in the mind of ANY, then there must be the fruits thereof. Is same turned in the mind that there must be a unison of purpose in the minds of all concerned as respecting the dispensing of that gained, then THIS may bring the FRUITS thereof. Is same turned into fear of criticism on the parts of those that have been, or are, lukewarm as respecting same, then the fruits thereof must be the results. Is same turned, that “As ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them,” the fruits thereof must be the results. Let that love be in the hearts of each as was in Him who gave, “Indeed offences MUST come, but woe unto him by WHOM they come,” and “He that would offend one of the least of THESE - they that would show forth my love - better that a millstone be hanged about his neck and he cast in the depths of the sea!” So, let thy yeas be yea and thy nays be nay. Keep thy face to the light, the shadows will fall FARTHER and FARTHER behind.
-
(Q) Who were the instigators of the trouble in New York? (A) Those that would make for destructive forces in the lives of many.
-
(Q) What is the next development in this work corresponding to the same period in the development of the work in the Egyptian period? (A) The gathering together of those that would study to KNOW the truths as may be gathered from the sources themselves to dispense to those seeking to KNOW the way.
-
(Q) Outline specifically the duties, and the positions to be occupied by each of those present in this room today, in relation to the further development of the work. (A) These have in their various approaches to the work, or those phases of the work, been given, that they MAY ACCOMPLISH, will they apply their hearts, their minds, their bodies, in a SINGLENESS of purpose. Be ye not DOUBLE-minded.
-
(Q) Was the dream had by Gladys Davis on Oct. 15th a prophecy of the trouble in N.Y.? [See 254-60, Par. R1 for dream.] (A) Very much in keeping with same.
-
(Q) What is the treasure that will be unearthed? (A) The knowledge of friendships and the abilities to draw upon the sources of power, help and aid, in a spiritual and material world.
-
(Q) Who is giving this information? (A) As it is an universality of purpose, so from those of the general or universal, or Cosmic Forces, are ministering those that are being given in this present interest.
-
(Q) Have we yet passed through the period corresponding to the period of banishment in the Egyptian period? (A) We are entering that period of the gathering together for the development of the truths as may be ministered to others, or the ministry in Egypt, as has been given, was a BEGINNING - see? a failing, an uprising, a settling, a ministry. We are entering that of the ministry. Still in the throes of the uprisings.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. Gladys Davis: Dream of Thursday morning, Oct. 15, 1931 [See 254-60, Par. 14-A].
All connected with the work or associated in any way with it were gathered in an upper room, on the top floor of a building. The room was without furniture, and it seemed that a big sheet covered the floor and underneath was straw. We all sat and stood around waiting for an explosion which we knew must come; as everything had been set for it. The explosion was to come from above; we all understood that the building would crash, but none even thought of running away or getting outside of the explosion. We had faith in some higher power that would save us from the wreck. It seemed, too, that the explosion would open up a treasure buried beneath the building which we had heretofore not been able to locate, and those who survived the shock and remained faithful would receive the treasure.
R2. 11/23/31 Max Hammerling’s letter indicated that he had paid $40 for transcript of the stenographer’s minutes of the N.Y. trial. [See 254-59, Par. R1.]
R3. 12/2/31 See EC’s letters to Mrs. [2457] and Mr. [779] [under 779-19] giving his personal reaction to the trouble in N.Y.
R4. 12/10/31 See 294-128, Par. 9-A—12-A, re EC being needed in the spirit world; that activities of those in material world should outweigh those calling from other side, else he would take leave of his body.

Miss Gladys Davis, c/o Dr. Edgar Cayce, 105th Street and Ocean Front, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Miss Davis,
I have already written you regarding “C” [294-128] and hope to write you again on the matter more fully next Monday.
Regarding your dream-vision [254-60, Par. 14-A, R1]: You had the vision of the 15th of October, about 3 weeks in advance. Probably that time the evil doers were planning to start the trouble and those vibrations were received by your sympathetic and well tuned mind and you had the vision in the dream. The “building” being a place occupied by many persons from different parts indicate that the persecution became a public affair and “C’s” work was not confined to any particular town or locality but to different parts of the country - of a universal nature. Gathering of many friends indicate help and sympathy from people connected or associated with him. The top floor of the building indicated the case was not hushed up but properly tried by a Judge in an open court.
The room without furniture:- Furniture is put up to make the room look beautiful and elegant. Absence of such furniture indicates that the psychic work being of a genuine nature did not need or depend upon any false pretenses or strength of advertising or boosting. The sheet covering the floor indicates that underneath such a “veil of purity” there was something ugly or unclean - signifying false appearances and friendship.
As you all sat waiting for the expected explosion it signified that you already knew who were the cause of trouble or nature of the danger and as you expected the explosion would open up a treasure it indicated that the trouble would prove to be a “blessing in disguise”. The underground treasure further indicates getting in contact or discovering some sincere friends and helpers. Your calmly facing the explosion indicates your faith in the work and Divine help.
To open up any buried treasure the explosion would naturally take place underground but as you expected the explosion would come from ABOVE it signifies that trouble did not relate to any material things but spiritual or psychic work
- which is cosmic treasure. It would bring more power and glory to the psychic work.
I hope the above explanation would be clear to you. The general way to translate a “symbol” is to study the characteristic and good and bad uses of the thing you visualize and then apply the meaning to the part that “symbol” played in the vision. It requires rather a careful judgement to understand the true relationship of one symbol to others forming the part of the dream and such knowledge could only come through analyzing hundreds of dreams and thru meditation.
I am glad to know you had such psychic dreams before. You should certainly develop the faculty further to great advantage. When I have the opportunity of meeting you next, I will gladly initiate you, if I may, in some of the Yogi methods to enable you to open up your third eye of psychic vision and project your ego in the etheric world. Have you ever been hypnotized or undergone a transcondition?
With kind regards, and best wishes, I am
Yours sincerely, Dr. Bisey
