This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of February, 1931, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [255].

Time of Reading 4:15 P.M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y. (Physical, mental and spiritual - with questions)

1. EC: Yes, we find the body here - well.

2. In many respects we find conditions are continuing on the improve. While there are times when the body feels mostly irritated with self, rather than with its physical condition or its physical reactions, the spiritual attitudes of the body, the abilities of the body to give out much, makes for that of the replenishing that is NOT found in other directions. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) How often will coccyx have to be treated to remain in place? (A) This will depend a great deal upon the activities of the body. While those conditions are of long standing, and easily the muscular forces as pull in improper directions are strong, and weak in those that pull in or for the PROPER correction, these will require some time - but what is time, to having the proper corrections made?

4. (Q) What is the advice from others, as to diet, that makes body “lopsided” as given in reading? (A) There has existed in the mind as respecting certain characters of diet, that was held for such a period until other things, other conditions, other meals or foods proved to be of detriment to the body, to the body’s own undoing. That’s why called lopsided! An even well BALANCED condition throughout, NOT being too severe in ANY direction! To say that ANY diet that adds proper forces to the body for blood, muscle and nerve building, is in error, is to cut self off - even as to say, “This I may do, this I may NOT do”, see?

5. (Q) As given in reading, what was strange about body’s advent into this life? (A) The strangeness was in the manner, the how, the wherefore. FEW, as was indicated, are as badly, or as sincerely, or as lovingly desired - and the ENTITY may be said to have taken ADVANTAGE of this. Hence the expression.

6. (Q) What picture or table in music room shall body sell to help hospital? (A) That had BEST be determined in self, when those conditions arise that the body desires to aid at THAT PARTICULAR TIME! for with desire (we get all phases of desire) there arises a channel through which that desire MAY operate. See? Little happens JUST by chance - though there are accidents, even in creation.

R1. 2/27/31 She wrote: “It was so nice just now to hear your voice over the phone and I certainly appreciated it very much that you called me up. We are all looking forward to your visit very much. Any time that it suits you suits us. [She reported on 276-2 and requested 457-2.]

“I am trying to sell the painting, but so far have not had the results I would like.

“But I am learning all the time! Just now I am reading the Yogi teachings by Ramacharaka. It makes me happy that I understand so much. To absorb and practice the teachings is not so easy.

“I hope you had a very successful meeting of the Ass’n board, and that you will make the week-end with us as long as possible.”

R2. 3/6/31 EC wrote: “Well, we had the meeting [in N.Y.]. Mr. Blumenthal decided that they would close the hospital, discontinue the work, and dissolve the Ass’n. From the local interest and requests we have had, however, the work apparently must go on. I presume that you will want the rdgs. just the same? We will put them down to get at the earliest opportunity. Peculiarly enough, your son [282]‘s birthday is my own March 18th.”

R3. 3/12/31 See Form letter about the passing of the Ass’n of Nat’l Investigators [under 1739-8 Reports] and plans for forming of A.R.E.

R4. 3/9/31 Mrs. [255] wrote: “Thank you so much for your letter. We were disappointed not to see you here over the week-end but glad that the visit is only postponed…

“It is hard for me not to feel terribly sorry that the hospital had to close. It seemed such a wonderful undertaking to me. But perhaps it is all for the best. One thing I did not like, that YOU should have to depend upon OTHERS. I wonder, Mr. Cayce, if for instance you took an interest in archaeology, and found cities and documents in Egypt, Arabia or the Gobi desert, you would soon become famous and well-to-do and could go about everything independently. You related once of having a prophecy in a rdg. and the papers were found 8 yrs. later? There can be nothing wrong about that. Nothing like Wall St. or races, or criminology. Expeditions are setting out all the time.

“I do not understand Mr. Blumenthal at all. To be so exceedingly enthusiastic and then just to go to the other extreme. It seems to me his interest must have been personal instead of spiritual. [She requested 275-17.]

“To cure criminals, proving it is a physical condition, would that perhaps be the road to travel? I am deeply grateful that we all could be at the Cayce Hospital last summer. Our whole development has been so different! For it will always remain the direct answer to prayer.

“It will certainly be a great treat to have a talk with you some day. We are writing down the questions we would like to have answered.

“Best regards to all, especially yourself, as ever” [255]

R6. 5/6/31 She wrote GD: “How we did enjoy and appreciate having Mr. Cayce with us! We all felt the atmosphere in the house this morning - a different world had touched us, a world of beauty and purity of thought!”

R7. 6/1/31 She obtained Physical Rdg. 255-7, and subsequently several other readings.

R8. 8/24/70 GD’s note: Mrs. [255] and her family were active and helpful through all the early-years of the new Ass’n - A.R.E., and, in fact, all their lives. Mrs. [255] and her husband, Mr. [378], passed on a few years ago, but most of their children are still active in A.R.E. work.
