This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at Selma, Ala. (?) this 15th day of September, 1922.

Time of Reading Unknown. Selma, Ala. (?) (Physical Suggestion (?))
-
Yes, we have the body here. I have seen this before, you see. Now there is a great deal of difference in this body of Mr. [287], we are speaking of, in the conditions we find at present and when we had it before, you see.
-
Now, these are the conditions as we find within the body at present. Thru the blood supplying forces we find that [the blood] in the fair normal condition. Throughout, the production of all forces needed to combat with and to give the life-giving incentive to the portions of the body itself are intact, so far as the normal condition exists with the body itself. If there are conditions that to other bodies would be abnormal, to this body they are normal condition of the body. We find the blood in a great deal better state at present time than when we had it before, for this system has been rid almost entirely of some of the bacilli that was carried when we had this before, that which produced a productive force within itself; or that which carried that portion within the blood supply, which carried all the uric forces and acids within the blood, has been rid of or set aside. As it were, nature has produced sufficient of the warriors of this character to hem these in or to carry throughout the system that property sufficient to eliminate these from the body. It is possible for its return to the system unless the proper precautions are taken at all times to ward off these conditions and to give into the system those properties necessary to keep up the combative forces within the system itself.
-
The abnormal conditions that we find thru the nerve forces are exaggerated in some extent to the conditions that we found before, especially do we find these in conjunction with the action of the sensory organism, of that portion of the body that has become somewhat taut, of lesions that have been formed along the lower and upper cervicals, so that we must produce proper distribution of nerve forces to the eyes and the ear here, you see. The effect becomes more noticable, we see, to the left ear and to the left side of the face, hence that eye is affected, you see. Hence we find the lesion in the third cervical or to the right side of the vertebra itself.
-
This released either by massage or by exercise to the body itself to the head and neck movements we will find will relieve and bring a better condition throughout that part of the body.
-
Then we would take, while this is being used, with the exercises or the massage either, into the system these properties which will assist the blood supplying forces to carry the proper incentive to these portions of the body and which will work and act directly on the nerve forces that are affected within the body. We would take into the system this:
Gum Camphor…20 grains, Sulphate of Morphia…3 grains, Muriated Ammonia…30 grains.
-
This will be mixed well together and made into 36 pellets, pills, see? The dose would be one each evening and only one, you see. By the time these are taken, if the massage or the exercises are kept, we will find we will relieve the condition thru the sensory nervous system.
-
The rest of the portion of the body we will find will come in accord with the action that this gives over the nervous forces, and the action to the whole sensory system will be improved. Do that.
-
(Q) Will that stop the ringing in the left ear? (A) Yes, this will remove the condition which produced that, hence the condition will be removed.
-
(Q) That will also strengthen the left eye so I will have better vision? (A) It will strengthen the whole sensory organism, give more strength and vitality to the body throughout. The action of these medicinal properties are this: The gum camphor is a stimulant to the sensory organism, especially to the mucus coats of all the nasal and eye and ear and throat cavities. It tends to rise, as it were, to this portion of the body.
The morphia we find in the small doses becomes a nerve astringent, stimulated.
The muriate of ammonia is also a stimulant to the action of the blood with the sensory forces to attract to the portion of the body that which will remove and give more strength to these portions needed. More vitality to the body throughout, acting directly through the action of the solar plexus forces, secondary cardiac, and the forces to the head, eyes, nose and throat.
The exercises, if taken, these would be this: Head forward three times, backward three times. To the left three, to the right three, then the circular motion of the head around the body five times, then reverse five times. Then arms or neck movement, or the massage, either or both, would assist the body; and give while the medicinal properties are being given (that is, night and morning exercises) medicinal properties once each evening.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/26/23 He referred Mr. [3740] for a Physical Rdg., 6/27/23 and 11/21/23 he obtained 2646-3 and 2646-4 for his wife.
R2. In the fall of 1922 he also obtained rdgs. for his mother-in-law, Mrs. [4382], and for his sister-in-law, Miss [4383], and a first Physical rdg. for his friend, Mr. [13].
R3. 11/11/23 EC’s Red Notebook of Readings has a listing by LS in Dayton, Ohio, that Mr. [287] was present for a Ck. Physical for himself, 4:00 P.M. However, there is no copy of this reading in the files.
R4. 12/3/23 He obtained Ck. Physical 287-2 for heart palpitation.
R5. 5/1/24 He reported: “I do not even wear glasses now.” [See subsequent Ck. Physical Rdgs. for various ailments.]
R6. 12/28/25 Mrs. [4207] wrote: “Your name was given me by a friend, Mr. [287], who said you had cured him of blindness by giving him a rdg.”
R7. 3/25/26 Mrs. [2192] wrote: “Mr. [287] speaks so wonderfully of you and the wonder things you have done for him - curing him of blindness - that I felt I must write you.”
R8. 4/27/26 Mr. [287]‘s testimonial letter to Mr. [2903] was sent to EC by Mr. [2903]:
“In 1915 I went stone blind. Edgar Cayce had said in my first reading for my health on December 15, 1911 that, from an accident I had in the Norton coal mines, Nortonville, Ky., on July 7, 1911, if I did not have the correction made in my spine as he suggested, it would eventually cause my system to become loaded with uric poisoning and I would lose my sight. As I remember, there were three doctors present - Dr. Wesley H. Ketchum of Hopkinsville, Ky. laughed and said that this condition could not cause blindness in the future. But in April 1915 I did go blind. Edgar Cayce also said in the reading at the time that the only remedy to gain my sight would be sweats or Turkish baths.
“This will advise you that I took seven hundred Turkish baths and sweats in two years, gradually regaining my eyesight until I could again see perfectly and was in wonderful health in every way, and not a cent’s worth of medicine.” [See Par. R12 below.]
R9. 1929 See also [948] series.
R10. 8/12/30 He wrote: “Your Mr. [2] told me this morning that he could sit on his front porch and see objects across the street in the evening, but the bright sunlight still hurts his eyes.
“I well remember how I had to keep out of the sunlight and the length of time it required me to get back perfect sight, and all because the eye specialist treated me wrong for my eye trouble and put a paste over my sight, that I had to remove by the process of sweats, just as you told me I would have to do.”
R11. 10/27/31 Mr. [287] wrote about a friend who had sciatic rheumatism: “He is not bad, like I used to be.”
R12. 4/28/33 “Will send you soon a letter I’ve written that you can use. It will explain my condition and what seven doctors said - that I would never be any better.”
R13. 9/16/33 He reported on his Ck. Physical 287-13, then added:
“P.S. You remember Charles E. Stewart, who was associated with me at Nortonville, Ky. I begged of him to see you some three or four months ago. He said he had every confidence in you, but that he could not afford it. He died three weeks later.
Miss Rosenthal of Dayton, Ohio. She was over here two weeks ago, you remember she is the one who was going to see you last winter. The Doctor here persuaded her that it was her teeth which were causing her trouble, and to have them all extracted. She did, and now she is a physical wreck.”
Background
Background
B1. 12/15/11 He had his first Physical Rdg. for an accident in July 1911 which predicted blindness unless tr. was followed. [See EC’s ltr. 12/15/38 to Mr. [1787], and Mr. [287]‘s ltr. of 4/27/26 287-1, Par. R8 saying he did go blind in 1915 and thru following the tr. was cured.] No copy of early rdgs. on file.
B2. 4/5/11 He obtained Physical Rdg. 2646-1 for his wife.
B3. 6/13/11 He referred a friend for 4250-1.
B4. 2/18/22 He obtained 1866-1 for his daughter.
B5. 9/15/22 He requested 2646-2 for his wife, and a Ck. Physical for himself, saying he had a ringing in his ears and again a dimness of vision. [He had been cured of blindness through following advice in several ck. rdgs., but no copies are in the files. Perhaps subsequent correspondence will give details of what transpired.]
