This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of January, 1926, in accordance with request made by Mr. M. B. Wyrick.

Time of Reading 5:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Bosque County, Texas.

1. GC: You will have before you the well being drilled on the lands of Madison Byron Wyrick, in Bosque County, Texas, and the operations and operators, and you will tell us how they may remove this obstruction from the hole, in such a manner that it will be understandable to the mind of Pat Moran, driller, and any other information which will assist in making this a successful and producing well.

2. EC: Yes, we have the operations and operators, as we have had before.

3. Now, we find, to remove these obstructions, first is to remove that portion of the cavings as hinder the drilling, and then drill to two to five feet beside the bailer, or pump. Then, remove the water from the hole, and in this operation we should find that pump comes to that position where the tools may take hold on same, or SHOULD this, perchance, NOT bring this from the leaning side, we would find that by running the two prong grab, this may bring this to that position in which the slip socket will take hold on the pump; then be able to remove same. We will find there is only a few more feet to be drilled before the production will come in. By using this, in the manner given, the sand pump should be removed in one to two days. Three to four more, then, necessary to have production on top of ground. Then, do that, Pat [Pat Moran]. We are through. [See 4905-53, Par. B1.]

My dear Mr. Wyrick:-

I had your letter the 21st, Saturday, so that afternoon we took the reading and I wired it to you. I’m sending you, herewith, the copy as it came, so you’ll know how we happened to get “Pat” in it. I’m in hopes I did the right thing by sending this by wire, for I felt you would want it at once, and it would make it two or three days if waited for a letter. I am sure that this is becoming a little bit taxing to you, but we will yet make a success! I feel we are all more confident of it then ever. I certainly appreciate your sending me the information as you did, and I hope you’ll let us hear as often as you have the opportunity. I trust you are feeling fine yourself.

We are beginning to get some requests from Norfolk and vicinity, so I’m sure we’re going to be busy this Spring and Summer anyway.

R3. 1/26/26 EC’s ltr. to Mr. Wyrick:

Dear Mr. Wyrick:-

Under separate cover, I am sending you some data I tried to get together. I would like to have, if it is not too much trouble, your opinion on this, as to whether it’s worth while, or if there are any suggestions that you would make as to any change in same [see GD’s note at end of letter]. What do you think of this being put in a little booklet, something like you had fixed for me before, but under what caption would you put it? I don’t mean to bother you with this, but I would like to have your opinion, for I believe I’d rather have your ideas about such things than most anybody I know. I will appreciate your letting me hear about this right away, for I want to get this printed, so I can send some of them out.

I hope things are going well with you - good news from the well, and that you will let us hear from you every opportunity.

[GD’s note: The manuscript sent to Mr. Wyrick was a compilation of EC’s experiences into a form to be used as an introduction to his work. It was published in the spring of 1926, the cover being a design prepared by Miss [2486] (a friend of [341]‘s) depicting the well and three palm trees which EC had so often seen in dreams [stemming from his Persian incarnation] in combination with a portion of the Cayce family coat-of-arms [See 294-8].

R4. 1/28/26 Mr. Wyrick’s letter requesting a personal reading regarding his health and general welfare: When I return will write you regarding the manuscript received just as I was leaving the office. Will also send you a small check.

Some day when I find time and in the mood to concentrate I will write you regarding Mr. [900]‘s letter you sent me recently. Would like to talk to you on the subject. I am developing some very radical views on past, present and future from the common conception. May shock you a bit if I can only explain what I think I think.

R5. 2/1/26 Mr. Wyrick’s letter:

Morgan, Texas

Have had a conference with Mr. Pat Moran, our Head Driller. He does not agree with me that it would be best to close down a few months in order to get together enough money to run a string of casing. He thinks it will be unnecessary to run the casing until we have reached production, then the cost of casing would be negligible. He feels confident that he will soon have hole clear of obstruction, and after he has a clear hole, it will be only a short time drilling thru the lime. Moran says that if each one interested in the Oil Company could know the condition of the well, and the possibilities it promises of big production, he feels sure none would be willing to shut down for lack of money to carry on, but that each one should make further subscription to insure the success of our undertaking.

We have the well drilled to the black lime and had penetrated this lime to a depth of 165 feet, a total depth of 6105 feet, at a cost of 64,115. This cost includes moving tools and building rig when we moved from old location, rebuilding rig and replacing large part of tools that were destroyed by fire last August causing a loss of 15,000 and about eight weeks time on fishing jobs. Now, when we arrived on the black lime at 5940 feet we reached the formation we had been expecting for past 3000 feet. We found it much thicker than the usual run in the producing fields and the rule is - more lime - more oil.

If you were looking for apples, you would go to that part of the country where apples grow, then you would proceed to locate an orchard or pool of apple trees. When this is found, you would locate a tree, then you would reasonably expect to find the fruit.

The black lime in this well represents the tree. The trip to this lime has cost us the aforesaid amount. Will we stop or will we invest enough more to nuy [buy?] a stick to knock the apple? Will not require many thousands - 5. to 25. per month from each shareholder for next four to six months will do the trick. Are you with me?

Please do not forget that Moran is not alone in his belief: that oil in large volume underlies this black lime. It is the firm belief of each driller working on the well and the opinion of five prominent practical geologists (to whom the samples have been submitted) operating in the State, familiar with all the formations, one a Consulting Geologist, two representing two of the largest Oil Companies in this State, two working independent and for leasing Companies and of all practical men who have inspected us.

Now, we must have money to carry on, so please let me have your remittance for a small amount as indicated each month and we will gauge our hope for ultimate reward accordingly.
