This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of July, 1930, in accordance with request made by those in charge.

1. EC: We have the body here, [543]. In the physical forces of this body, we find there are conditions that cause the distresses as come to the body. These, as we find, are of a deep-SEATED nature, and have to do with conditions as of a prenatal condition, and the effects are to the incoordination between the physical and the mental forces of the body, as is related to those of the glands as have to do with gestation [genitation?], and the effects as are created in the system through those of the pineal and of the lyden [Leydig] glands. Here, we find, that the necessity of operative measures would be those of the most beneficial nature to the body, so that the organs of gentation [genitation], as related to those of the whole nervous system, would be in subordination by the removal of same; for these conditions have reached such stage, or such states, that - unless there is kept the subjugation of the activities of same in the system - these must continue to produce for the body those of the contractions of the nerve and muscular forces, as related to the coordination of the system with the brain or the MENTAL-physical forces of body. In the subjugation of same, these may be also overcome by those of the hypnotic influences OVER the system. These would aid also, but the most secure, the safest conditions, would be for the operative forces, as we find.

2. Then, under the present conditions - only the subjugation of the forces through that of luminal, and of the bromides, may keep these repressions in the system in such an accord as for the active forces to be aided in system. See? Ready for questions.

3. (Q) What type of operation should this be? Just what specific organs should be removed? (A) Organs of gestation. [Hysterectomy?]

4. (Q) Should the body be built up for this operation, or is it in a condition to stand same? (A) To build the body up becomes that nature that makes for the conditions, or for the spasmodic effects to be the stronger - yet the resistances would be the more effective, to be sure.

5. (Q) Where would be the best place to take the body for such an operation? (A) It won’t be found, until there’s one made or builded for it! because it isn’t accepted as yet, but this will be eventually accepted as the condition NECESSARY; for, were these conditions, as has been explained, effected in the system, then we will find that this character, this activity, will be effective in the physical forces of the body. [See 543-24 advising surgery by Dr. George Crile. However, this did not seem to be the type of operation referred to in 543-1.]

6. (Q) What type of epilepsy is this condition? (A) From the removal of the causes, why this might be easily pre-presumed. [In Dr. W. N. Pahnke’s breakdown of 96 cases of epilepsy from the EC readings, July 1960, he classified Case [543] in his group 1, saying “From the description of the case diagnosis of grand mal epilepsy would be quite probable.”] This is produced from those of prenatal conditions, the affection of same, as that gathered through those forces of the genital organs. This may be determined by the plasms in the blood test.

Let the body rest. Keep it in the open, and then send it home as soon as the communications are made with the ones as whom the body depends upon.

R1. 7/10/30 Mrs. […]‘s wire: “Mrs. […] [[543]‘s mother’s] condition serious due to cont’d anxiety. Must have rest. If [543] is willing, will you keep her several weeks at sanitarium? Wire answer to me collect. I am deeply distressed at seeming hopelessness of rdg.”

EC’s reply: “Doctor will wire you tomorrow. Will arrange it if possible.”

R2. 7/28/30 See 543-2.

R3. 9/24/68 GD’s note: Miss [543]‘s niece visited A.R.E., saying she had met Hugh Lynn Cayce at Capon Springs and he had told her that we would be interested in a report on her Aunt [543]. She, Aunt [543], had died in 1954 shortly after falling (in an attack) and breaking her neck. She had been living all these years in a nursing home, with short visits to her parents occasionally - while they were alive - and then to her sister. At times she had been violent, threatening to kill her sister, but Mrs. […] [the niece] only remembered her as being kind to her and to her children as they came along. She, the niece, had hesitated about having children, being afraid that Aunt [543]‘s condition might be inherited.

So, when [543] died, the family asked for an autopsy. A small tumor was found in the brain (on the left side, the niece thought), so situated as to have been the cause of ALL her trouble, the doctor said. The sister of [543] said, “Wouldn’t you know, that’s the one thing Edgar Cayce recommended that Mother wouldn’t agree to - surgery.”

B2. 7/8/30 Miss [543] was admitted to the Cayce Hospital by Dr. L. A. Lydic to be treated for epilepsy which she had had since the age of 14. To that time she had apparently been a normal girl. Many doctors had been consulted, much time and money spent with apparently no definite results, the attacks still persisting.
