EC: Yes, we have the body here - this we have had before. Now, we find the general physical conditions show much improvement from that as we have had before. There is less frequency of the depressions as cause inertia, or incoordination of the sympathetic and cerebro-spinal nerve system. This will still show improvements as the body continues to keep those properties - the inhalant, and the properties that keep the eliminations through the system - well, possibly, that these be changed somewhat at the present time - use this, rather, as an eliminant, or to assist the liver and the whole of the hepatic circulation to gain the more normal equilibrium, more normal coordination, with that that is being assisted in and through the nerve system by manipulation. Use this: Prepare 6 ounces of ragweed in 16 ounces of rain or distilled water. Reduce to 1/2 the quantity. Strain, and while warm add 2 ounces of simple syrup, with 2 ounces of grain alcohol, with 1 dram Balsam of Tolu cut in same; also add in this dried senna 5 grains. Shake the solution well together before the dose is taken. The dose would be a teaspoonful. Do not take this oftener than twice each week, unless there is the necessity to produce better reaction from the eliminating, or from the liver and hepatic circulation.
-
Keep the inhalant [See 5642-2 - for emphysema?]; also keep the manipulations as often as is CONVENIENT for the body to do so [See massage ingredients in 5642-1]. Keep in the open. Do not overtax the mind, but keep sufficient physical exercise to keep proper coordination, and we will find the near normal conditions will yet come to this body. Keep the mental in attunement to the spiritual side of life, and remember that the spiritual will build that, that the MENTAL will attune itself for a physical or materialization in the flesh; for the spiritual forces are the same one day after another, and unto the end.

We are through with this reading.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 11/2/28 Letter: ”…Yours of October 30th came this evening and am very grateful for same. I trust I shall be able to fill the prescription with but little trouble as my druggist assures me that he can provide me with everything except the Ragweed, which I think I can gather in my own pasture.
“You see, I am one of the poor unfortunates whose income and estate is under guardianship by a mandate of the Federal Government. My only income is my pension and as soon as I can arrange it with my guardian I shall come to visit your wonderful institution. You see, I am one of the thousands that the Government terms ‘mental incompetence’. You may use your own judgement as to whether I am mentally incompetent or not. I cannot complain. It is but the fortunes of war and the will of God. Your sincere friend…”
R2. 12/10/28 Letter: ”…Yours of the 7th came today (inquiring about my condition) and in regards to my condition I wish to say, I do not and have never expected to be entirely cured because the various nerve specialists who have treated me have one and all called my case chronic, basal and adhesive. However, I am so much benefitted by your suggestions that I must thank you for them. I feel that my trouble is my just punishment of my sin in running away from home years ago while still a minor and joining the Army as an adult. However, as I said, while I am not cured I am so much better that I feel that I owe you thanks for your suggestions which have helped me so much…”
R3. 12/14/28 Letter: ”…I wish you would forget my last letter to you. I did not take into consideration the fact that you cure where doctors fail. I shall continue to take your last prescription as it has been about a week since I have fell [fallen] and I sure feel a lot better.
“I now confidently expect to be cured and naturally am more cheerful. I wish you all success with your Hospital and I am sure that your Hospital could not be a success without your cooperation.
“The success that you have had with my seemingly hopeless case has earned my unending gratitude. Please forget my previous letter as I now see that with God no thing shall be impossible. While I am not yet cured I have great hopes for the future and I also have a strong faith in the Divine powers which are so wonderfully made manifest to man.
“I wish to remain your sincere friend and faithful servant when you need me…”
R4. 1/7/29 Letter: ”…I wish to say, first, my condition is so improved that I no longer fall as formerly but my attacks now consist of a few seconds of a daze like unto a cloud passing over the sun, then I am myself again. Can we expect a more normal condition? Second, we men at the ‘front’ over ten years back saw war as it is, robbed of its glamour, the cruel, stern realities of it, long lines of men plodding patiently along in a drizzling French rain, the straps of their heavy packs cutting cruelly into their wet shoulders, always moving up to do something, they didn’t know what, somewhere, they didn’t know where. It is all like a bad dream now, that we want to forget it if we can. That is why we don’t like to talk about it… If you will remember, Mr. Cayce, when the light shone in darkness as it did 1900 years ago, the darkness did not comprehend it. Are we, of today, better than they of 1900 years ago? A happy new year to you is the wish of, yours…”
R5. 1/13/29 Letter: ”…As I have previously written, my attacks of epilepsy now consist of a very few seconds of a sort of daze, then I am myself again. Now, having gained this near-normal condition, God willing, you can still do me a service at your first leisure date. You will please give me yet another reading to see if there is not a way to overcome these dazed spells…”
R6. 1/20/29 Letter: ”…In answer to yours of the 15th I must say that I think it is a very good idea for you to rest and recuperate after an attack of the flu. You see, Mr. Cayce, I speak with authority as I have had the flu twice… I shall continue the properties you have given, the inhalant, the massage, and the eliminant, and shall hope for the best. I should really like, for personal reasons, to see you and how work on your institution is progressing, and God willing ‘ere long I shall be able to see you…”
R7. 3/8/29 Letter: ”…Yours of March 5th came today and the date you named and the time will be perfectly satisfactory to me. A question I wish answered is, if the nervous system shows any ill effect of non-treatment and if so how this may be corrected…”
R8. 3/14/29 EC gave the fifth reading, 5642-5.
