This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of July, 1927, in accordance with request made by Mr. [943].

Time of Reading 4:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Florida.

1. GC: You will have before you the well that has been drilled on Section 19, Township 54, Range 35, Dade County, Florida, and you will please advise us if it is possible to plug this well and follow instructions as given sometime ago. Give information in detail as to what is necessary to do to obtain results.

2. EC: This we have had here before.

3. Now, we find operations thus far have proved as has been given regarding the obtaining of production - the production, as given, in small quantities - yet paying quantities - would and could be obtained from these operations, were instructions as have been given - as MAY be given - followed closely; yet we find there are those circumstances, those conditions surrounding the operations that would even make THIS hard to be carried out in a proper way and manner - for we find there have arisen many of those conditions that bring contrary-wise activity by individuals, and the desire to destroy rather than that someone else might obtain any benefit from any operations. These, however, would be the ways and manners to obtain production here:

4. First there will be found the necessity to raise casing to at least twenty-two hundred (2200) feet, see? This the depth from the top. Plug hole below this, see? Then raise casing again, after hole is plugged, to seventeen ninety-nine (1799), see? Then REAM from this to the twenty-two twenty-five (2225) feet. Here we will find production will be encountered, where showings were seen, from eighteen seventy-five to twenty-two twenty-five (1875 to 2225), this giving sufficient of the stratum in which the production will be obtained. Necessary - if water gives obstruction or trouble here - that packers be used on casings when suction or pumps are used to start the flow.

5. Do that, for the production to be obtained - yet be careful of the information as is given, for there are those that would hinder such operations being carried out.

6. We are through for the present.

R1. 8/6/27 Mr. [943]‘s letter to EC:

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Received your reading with reference to present condition of the Tamiami well. Have withdrawn from the vice presidency and as a director of the Miami Oil and Natural Gas Company, and will devote my entire time to the development of the lease which I have held about three miles West of the Tamiami well. We have organized the Southern Oil and Gas Company and are making preparations to start operation within the next three or four weeks. We would like to have a reading [GD’s note: See [5637] series in Monroe Co., Florida.] before we start - giving complete log of well to be drilled on sections 19 or 30, range 34 East, Township 54, South. We want to start out first well on one of these sections. I assure you that the instructions given for the drilling and finding of oil by you will be followed in detail. We should have the following information: Log of well to a depth of 2500 feet - showing at what locations oil or gas would be found - in fact full instructions as just the procedure to obtain oil or gas in this location.

Am wondering if it will be possible for you to give a reading on my activities with reference to things that I should do and the proper procedure to carry the things mentioned to a successful conclusion. I have felt that through our efforts and through such information that you will give and have given that we will discover oil in this location. The discovery of oil would enable us to carry out our world organization plans to a satisfactory conclusion. I believe in the great power that you possess and the great good that can be done humanity from the information you can give.

Glad to know that you are making progress on your plans and wish that I could help you from a financial standpoint, but will do so when we get some money.

Mr. [2671] is in New York and has been there for three or four months trying to obtain a loan. I suppose that you have heard that the suit on which you gave a reading was decided in his favor by the local court - Rand has five months from which to appeal to the higher court - you said in your reading that there would be no appeal and I believe what you said. Peters cannot get financial help until the expiration of the appeal notice. Your reading [See 2671-3] was correct in that matter and would be correct on the other matters if followed as per instructions.

R2. 8/22/27 Mr. [943]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

With your assistance, if you will do so, I want to try to write a book on oil geology of the State of Florida. I believe that it is the coming State in the U.S. for oil possibilities. I have outlined a few questions here as follows which will give us something to start on:

“You will have before you the State of Florida with reference to the oil geology and you will outline in detail what caused the Florida uplift and the many disturbances in the State. You will tell us from what source oil is migrating into the State and where it is trapped and why it trapped in each particular location. It is the purpose of this information to publish a book on the oil of geology of the State of Florida and the forces will give such information that will enable [943] and C. I. Bacon of Miami Florida to write such book, and you will answer any other question which I will ask you concerning the above question.”

Question No. 1. What caused the fresh water cut-off in the Southern peninsula of Florida.

No. 2. Did the mid-continent plunges cause the Florida uplift and does the oil migrate into the State on these plunges and did the Ouachita plunge and the Red River fault have anything to do with oil migration into the State of Florida.

No. 3. What caused Lake Okeechobee and reef on southern part of lake and the many lakes thorough the central part of the State.

No. 4. What caused the Caloosahatchee river and the New river fault.

No. 5. What caused the many islands and reefs on the Eastern side of the southern end of the Florida peninsula and the many breaks and waterways inland on the western part of the southern end of Florida peninsula.

No. 6. Does and oil and gas structure exist in and near the city of Miami, Florida, and if so, give cause of the formation and if possible a location to drill for oil or gas.

No. 7. Is Biscayne Bay and Miami River a fault.

No. 8. Does oil exist below a depth of 4000 feet and if so give in detail where the big sand or limestone formation is located with reference to section, range and township and amount of production.

Mr. Cayce, if we can work something out of this will protect you as far as an interest is concerned in the sale of the book. I believe that we can do some good for the State and for ourselves at the same time. Please advise me just what you think of the proposition and if you think well of it might give it a try at one or two readings. We must locate the oil pools in the State and get busy on our world proposition for that means more to us than all the money in the world and particularly to the people of the world.

R3. 9/1/27 EC’s letter to [943]:-

Yours of the 19th and 22nd received. We have been very busy recently, getting matters straightened up about the Association and the preparation for the building. We have a meeting again Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, with respect to accepting the plans for the institute building - and as soon as I get this matter off my hands I will try and take this up, and will let you know what we can do about it. The plan is feasible, I suppose writing the geology of the State, but I wouldn’t want it published as coming from this source at all. Not that I am ashamed of anything that might be gotten, but we are setting about for a very definite work along other lines and I don’t know as people would get the correct idea about it all if they felt I was trying to use the Forces or Sources to get information of this nature on the side. You know I don’t want to do anything that would in the least way jeopardize the work when there seems a possibility of my realizing, at least in a small way, the dream of my life, since I have been convinced there was real good to be attained by suffering humanity by following out the suggestions made in the readings - and while I would like to add money to our fund in a way that there would be no place for want, even, for financial help - still I don’t want to do it in a way that would give anyone the wrong idea or the wrong impression, and while we may not understand it as being wrong, how will the other fellow see it? But I’ll let you know about it the latter part of next week.

R4. 9/19/27 Mr. [287]‘s letter: “Mr. [4825] and family are here (Ohio) from Miami. Everything looks very bad down there. It looks as though they were not going to be able to finance the oil proposition, and the last report we had is that Mr. [2671] has not yet returned to Miami. I have just wondered if he stopped to see you any time within the last 2 months. He told Mr. [4825] and Mr. [943] that he was going to stop and see you on his way home. I presume he has had trouble refinancing his properties and that is probably the reason for him staying away so long.”

R5. 10/10/27 Mr. [943] requested the first of a series of readings on gas fields in Louisiana - See [4203].

R6. 6/7/28 Mr. [943]‘s letter [First part used in 1274-17 Reports]:

They have started the Tamiami well again and they have all their money raised and will case the hole and drill it as it should be. A group of Miami business men put up the money and a reliable driller is in charge. The casing is in Miami now and they figure to case around this week end at a depth of 3000 feet. I hope that you will find time within the next week or ten days to give a reading on the Tamiami well giving information at what depth oil or gas will be found. Get the information on the formations down to a depth of five thousand feet and if oil or gas will be found down to that depth and in what quantity.

Am going to meet Gov. Martin next week with the hope that I will be able to obtain an oil and gas lease on all the State lands South of the Lake which will total around 672,000 acres and most of it is near the Tamiami well.

Am glad that you are making progress on your hospital and wish that I had a few thousand dollars to help you, but if is about all that we can do to keep the grocer satisfied. But we are going to make big money some of these days and the good that can be done with it will long be remembered.

Let me hear from you as soon as you can, Mr. Cayce, and give the family and Miss Davis our sincere regards. [943]

R7. 6/12/28 Mr. [943]‘s letter:

I still have my 20,8000 acre lease near the Tamiami well and they are working on Tamiami now and doing it right. They will be setting the six inch casing this week and proper test and cores will be taken in order that they will know beyond a doubt that nothing is being passed up. I wrote you a few days ago if it was possible for you to take another reading on the Tamiami well giving information from the 3000 feet level down to a depth of 5000 feet. As you remember on a reading given on my lease that the reading said that big production would be found 3800 feet and Tamiami well may be down in sincline and on edge of structure.

The stateland which I mentioned in my recent letter covers the section mentioned in most of you readings on the Tamiami well. The section is 19 township 54 range 32. There is where your readings said that 80,000 bbl. wells would be found. If I am able to obtain a lease on this land we will be able to work something out of it with the aid of your help and the proper application of the instructions given by the forces for the handling of same.
