Protestant) This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the David E. Kahn home, 20 Woods Lane, Scarsdale, N.Y., this 18th day of November, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1472] new Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will have before you the entity, Mrs. [1472], born …, who seeks detailed information concerning her Palestine sojourn as Judy, covering her biographical life, work and associations throughout that experience, from the entity’s entrance to her departure. You will also give the developing or retarding associations and influences of that plane which bear on the present life, and how they may be best used in the present experience for the entity’s highest development and service. You will then answer the questions she will submit, as I ask them, concerning her present life and associations.

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now called Mrs. [1472]!

3. Here we may give even portions of the records as scribed by the entity called Judy, as the teacher, as the healer, as the prophetess through that experience.

4. Some four and twenty years before the advent of that entity, that soul-entrance into material plane called Jesus, we find Phinehas (?) and Elkatma (?) making those activities among those of the depleted group of the prophets in Mt. Carmel; that begun by Samuel, Elisha, Elijah, Saul, and those during those early experiences.

5. Because of the divisions that had arisen among the peoples into sects, as the Pharisee, the Sadducee and their divisions, there had arisen the Essenes that had cherished not merely the conditions that had come as word of mouth but had kept the records of the periods when individuals had been visited with the supernatural or out of the ordinary experiences; whether in dreams, visions, voices, or what not that had been and were felt by these students of the customs, of the law, of the activities throughout the experiences of this peculiar people - the promises and the many ways these had been interpreted by those to whom the preservation of same had been committed.

6. Hence we find Phinehas and the companion, both having received the experience similar to that received by Hannah and Elkanah, had drawn aside from many of the other groups.

7. And then as in answer to that promise, the child - Judy - was born.

8. That the entity was a daughter, rather than being a male, brought some disturbance, some confusion in the minds of many.

9. Yet the life, the experiences of the parents had been such that still - fulfilling their promise - they brought the life of their child, Judy, and dedicated it to the study and the application of self to the study of those things that had been handed down as a part of the EXPERIENCES of those who had received visitations from the unseen, the unknown - or that worshiped as the Divine Spirit moving into the activities of man.

10. Hence we find the entity Judy was brought up in that environment; not of disputations, not of argumentations, but rather as that of rote and writ - as was considered necessary for the development, the influences, the activities of the life, to induce or to bring about those experiences.

11. That much had been to that period as tradition rather than as record, appeared - from the activity of the entity, Judy - to have made a great impression.

12. So there was the setting about to seek means and manners for the preservation, and for the making of records of that which had been handed down as word of mouth, as tradition. Such channels and ways were sought out. And eventually the manner was chosen in which records were being kept in Egypt rather than in Persia, from which much of the tradition arose - of course - because of the very indwelling of the peoples in that land.

13. Hence not only the manners of the recording but also the traditions of Egypt, the traditions from India, the conditions and traditions from many of the Persian lands and from many of the borders about same, became a part of the studies and the seeking of the entity Judy early in the attempts to make, keep and preserve such records.

14. The manners of communication being adverse, owing to the political situations that gradually arose due to the Roman influence in the land, made more and more a recluse of the entity in its early periods; until there were those visitations by what ye call the Wise Men of the East - one from Persia, one from India, one from the Egyptian land.

15. These reasoned with the Brethren, but more was sought from the studies of the entity Judy at that experience.

16. Then there was the report by the Wise Men to the king. Has it been thought of, or have you heard it reasoned as to why the Wise Men went to Herod, who was only second or third in authority rather than to the Romans who were ALL authority in the land?

17. Because of Judy; knowing that this would arouse in the heart and mind of this debased ruler - that only sought for the aggrandizement of self - such reactions as to bring to him, this despot, turmoils with those then in authority.

18. Why? There was not the proclamation by the Wise Men, neither by Judy nor the Essenes, that this new king was to replace Rome! It was to replace the Jewish authority in the land!

19. Thus we find, as it would be termed in the present, attention was called or pointed to the activity of the Essenes such that a little later - during those periods of the sojourn of the Child in Egypt because of same - Herod issued the edict for the destruction.

20. This brought to those that were close to the entity those periods that were best described by the entity itself, in the cry of Rachel for her children that were being born into a period of opportunity - yet the destructive forces, by the very edict of this tyrant, made them as naught.

21. Hence during those periods of the ministry of John, and then of Jesus, more and more questioning was brought upon the recorder - or Judy - by the Roman authorities, or the Roman spies, or those who were the directors of those who collected and who registered taxes of those peoples for the Roman collection.

22. Consequently, we find the entity came in contact with the Medes, the Persians, the Indian influence of authority - because of the commercial association as well as the influence that had been upon the world by those activities of Saneid and those that were known during the periods of Brahma and Buddha.

23. These brought to the experience of the entity the weighing of the counsels from the traditions of the Egyptians and of her own kind - and then that new understanding.

24. Hence we find the entity in those periods soon after the Crucifixion not only giving comfort but a better interpretation to the Twelve, to the Holy Women; an understanding as to how Woman was redeemed from a place of obscurity to her place in the activities of the affairs of the race, of the world, of the empire - yea, of the home itself.

25. Those all became a part of the entity’s experiences during that portion.

26. Hence we find many have been, many are, the contacts the entity has made and must make in this present experience.

27. For, as then, the evolution of man’s experiences is for the individual purpose of becoming more and more acquainted with those activities in the relationships with the fellow man, as an exemplification, as a manifestation of Divine Love - as was shown by the Son of man, Jesus; that EACH and every soul MUST BECOME, MUST BE, the SAVIOR of some soul! to even COMPREHEND the purpose of the entrance of the Son INTO the earth - that man might have the closer walk with, yea the open door to, the very heart of the living God!

28. The entity’s activities during the persecutions aroused much in the minds of those that made war again and again upon the followers of the Nazarene, of Jesus, of the Apostles here and there.

29. And the entity, as would be termed, was hounded, yea was persecuted the more and more; yet remaining until what ye would call the sixty-seventh year AFTER the Crucifixion; or until Time itself began to be counted from same.

30. For the records as were borne by the entity, it will be found, were BEGUN by the activities of the entity during what ye would term a period sixty years AFTER the Crucifixion.

31. And then they were reckoned first by the peoples of Carmel, and then by the brethren in Antioch, then a portion of Jerusalem, then to Smyrna, Philadelphia, and those places where these were becoming more active.

32. The entity - though receiving rebuffs, yea even stripes in the body - died a natural death in that experience; at the age then of ninety-one.

33. As to the associations, the lessons that are to be gained in the applications of self from that experience:

34. Many are the urges that arise, as indicated; many are the impulses oft to feel that the very knowledge puts self in a position to condemn.

35. But condemn not, even as He did not condemn.

36. Again there are the inclinations that arise for abilities to present, to correlate, subjects that are truths hidden in tradition, hidden in prejudice of race, hidden in tradition of the patriotic influences that are accredited by the very spirit of a nation of people, or a custom, or a condition that has set itself in order as organizations.

37. But gathering these, do not condemn. For know, there is only ONE SPIRIT - that is the Spirit of Truth that has growth within same! For if there is the spirit of strife, or the spirit of any activities that bring about contention or turmoils, it takes hold upon those very fires that ye have so WELL put away; yet that keep giving giving - urges that are spoken of, even as He that ye KNOW, that the prince of this world is as a raging lion, going about seeking whom he may destroy!

38. What is this spirit then of unrest but that very cry, as He gave in that triumphal entry, “If ye did not cry Hosanna, glory to the Lord, the king of kings, the very stones would cry out!”

39. That these overreach themselves, ye have seen in the great white light of thine understanding, of the many VARIED feelings, yea the very varied approaches ye have seen.

40. Does it become any wonder to thee, knowing, feeling that ye have known these experiences, that ye have heard many a voice raised here and there, crying “Lo, here am I - LO, here is the way - LO - Listen!”

41. But rather as those promises, yea as thy very self hath PRONOUNCED, “It is the still small voice within that finds communion with that Spirit that beareth witness that thy interpretation be true,” that all the prophets pronounced Him as that star spoken of, as that voice raised in the wilderness, as the star of Jacob, yea of the household of David, yea as of Judah that lion that will bring that as He declared unto the world - “My peace I leave with thee.”

42. That ye declared, that hold to!

43. For there IS no other way than that each soul be awakened to that ye did proclaim to the earth, “Behold He cometh with power and might and ye shall know Him as He IS: for He convicts thee of thy purpose among thy fellow men!”

44. Ready for questions.

45. (Q) How close was my association with Jesus in my Palestine sojourn? (A) A portion of the experience the entity was the teacher!

How close? So close that the very heart and purposes were proclaimed of those things that were traditions! For the entity sent Him to Persia, to Egypt, yea to India, that there might be completed the more perfect knowledge of the material ways in the activities of Him that became the Way, the Truth!

46. (Q) How can I extend the scope of my writing opportunity to use this ability in more important channels and wider service than at present? (A) As may be gathered from that as given, by putting into first thine own experience, thine own activity, those teachings of Him; not as tenets but as LIVING experiences! So manifesting same in the lives and minds of those whom the self may meet day by day, learning that lesson as He so well manifested, that it was not in the separation as John, not in the running away as Elijah, not as in sitting in high places as Isaiah, not as in that form of Jeremiah - mourning; not in that lording as Moses - but ALL THINGS UNTO ALL MEN! reaching them in their own plane of experience; and not with long-facedness!

For as He - He wined, He dined with the rich, He consorted with the poor, He entered the temple on state occasions; yea He slept in the field with the shepherds, yea He walked by the seashore with the throngs, He preached to those in the mount - ALL THINGS; and yet ever ready to present the tenets, the truths, even in those forms of tales, yea parables, yea activities that took hold upon the LIVES OF MEN AND WOMEN in EVERY walk of human experience!

So ye will find that the lessons ye gave then may be used today! Why? Because Truth is TRUTH, EVER - in WHATEVER STAGE, in whatever realm of evolution, in WHATEVER realm ye find same; it is as He gave - the little leaven.

Think not, even as He, to do some great deed that would make the welkin ring throughout the earth. Rather KNOW it is the little line, the little precept, the little lesson given into the lives and experiences that brings the awareness into the hearts and souls of men and women; that consciousness of the NEARNESS in the still small voice within.

For as proclaimed of old, it is not in the thunder or lightning, it is not in the storm, it is not in the loudness - but the still small voice within!

So as ye write, so as ye talk, so as ye love - let it be in meekness of spirit, in PURPOSEFULNESS of service, in an activity and an eye single to the GLORY of the Father through those that are His children.

For “Who is my mother, my brother, my sister? They that do the will of the Father, the same is my mother, my brother, my sister.” What is the will? Love the Lord with all thy heart, thy mind, thy body; thy neighbor as thyself!

SOW the seeds of kindness, helpfulness, longsuffering, gentleness, patience, brotherly love; and leave the INCREASE to the Father, who ALONE can give same either in the spirit, the mind OR the body!

Being patient even as He.

This is the manner in which ye may reach, O the whole earth, even as ye did - Judy - in thy counsel as given thee by thy father then in the flesh, as ye learned, as ye gathered from the counsel of the lessons from the patriarches of old, by the lessons of tradition that ye first - even as he - set to be in order; yea have heard as of old, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth; ye have heard he that does the good, do the good to him; but “I say, he that would smite thee on the right cheek, TURN THOU the other also! He that would sue thee and take away thy cloak, give him thy coat also.”

Did ye not set these as the very words given by Him who is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings?

For to him who hath overcome - and He standeth at the door and knocks - and YE, as all His servants, His children, His sisters, His brethren - may be co-laborers with Him in the harvest that is ripe.

47. (Q) What is the purpose of my present business position and when will I be freed from it? (A) That ye may reach the more. Each experience, as ye will learn the more and more - as ye see them, just as given - is that ye may serve the better.

For how gave He? “He that is greatest among you is servant of all.”

When shall ye be free from same? When ye have attained, when ye have gained that next step that He may say, “Move on, now; that thy children, those ye have taught, may carry on. Ye are called to the greater service of making known again - by word of mouth or by the pen - the greater lessons of Truth.”

R1. 11/18/37 Immediately following [1472-3], EC related what he felt to be the most beautiful experience he had ever had; said in arriving at the place of records he took a step down out of the record chamber and the Master appeared, took his arm and said, “Brother, I’ll walk a piece with you.”

R2. 11/21/37 See 1151-10, Par. 41-A, 42-A indicating close associations of [1151] and [1472] in the Palestine period.

R3. 11/22/37 Letter to GD from [1472]: “Returning last night to the [1151]‘s. I read [1151] and [1158] the reading of my Palestine incarnation. They were both tremendously impressed and moved by it, - especially [1151]. In fact it seemed to mean so much to him that that Inner Voice to which I am accustomed to listen (and to which the rdg. refers) dictated my leaving it with him. I told him that that copy is one you made for Hugh Lynn and asked [1151] to return it to you just as soon as he is through with it. I feel it will be a great help to [1151] to study some parts of this rdg. as he and I seem to be here for much the same purpose. I hope my procedure in this matter is alright with you. If [1151] doesn’t return this copy of the rdg. before you and the family come in for dinner with me on Friday night, will you be so kind as to ask Hugh Lynn and Mr. Cayce both to read the copy which you have kept for the Association files as there are several points I would like to touch upon when I am able to have a private talk with all of you together, - as will be the case when you are in my own home on Friday evening:

“Unless hearing from you or [1158] to the contrary, [1470] and I will pursue the present arrangement to meet you at the [1151]‘s Wed. evening.

“Earnestly and lovingly yours, [1472] - I got my copy of the rdg. this morning (Monday). Thanks.”

R4. 12/12/37 Letter reporting on her Physical Rdg., 1472-2: “Will you ask Hugh Lynn to check the dates on my Palestine rdg.? It says I was twenty-four years old when Jesus was born and lived for 67 yrs. after the crucifixion, dying at the age of 91. Since Jesus was thirty three, these dates would make me 124 at the time of my death. Or so I figure it. I would appreciate it if Hugh Lynn would check the rdg. and let me know how HE figures it, or accounts for the discrepancy. In the Palestine rdg. I am told that I have ‘emanated from God-consciousness, ever’. In my talk with Hugh Lynn - God bless him! - he worded his explanation of this statement so beautifully, I would be very grateful to him if he would WRITE it to me, giving me the IMPLICATIONS as well, - as he did when we talked about it.

“Now, I must ‘sign off’ the air, as I am having [1479] and her husband as my guests for dinner this crystal clear Sunday, - same to be around five P.M., - toward which time my clock is fast approaching. You will remember to have given Mrs. [1479] a rdg. She said a strange thing to me recently, which you may be interested to hear. She said she felt the rdgs. INCLINE ONE TO EGOTISM if same indicate that one has been some important person in the past. She feels that such knowledge inclines one to build the ego, and feel one’s self better than one’s brother. I was astonished, for the knowledge of who and what I was, and what my activities in my past association with Jesus, did just the reverse to me. My heart almost burst with gratitude that I was privileged to have been His teacher - EVER; gratitude for the bond of love that must have existed between us; humility that it was so, and a terrific hunger to make myself more worthy NOW than I am. And with it all a deepened love for you as the channel through which all this knowledge came to me. Ah, Sweet Child of the living God, - shield the power that has been given you (for the salvation of the world) from expenditure upon the unprepared. For it is the unprepared who are meant by ‘the swinish thought that will turn again and rend you’.

“Peace to you and your house.

“And know that my love envelops both now and always,” [1472]

“Please pardon messiness of this letter. I have written it without my secretary and I am a bum typist.”

R5. 1/2/38 [1472]‘s letter to HLC: “I am far from well, and desperately tired. Even so there has been much joy in my heart through this Christmas that was never there before because of my present knowledge of my association with Jesus when he was here.

“I have thought of you all daily, and with my love goes a prayer that His Face may light the path of 1938 for each of you, - His Face with its effulgent glow! God bless you, and let me hear from you.

“Faithfully your fellow-worker” [1472]

R6. 1/6/38 See 1468-3, Par. 21-A regarding her associations with [1472] in Palestine.

R7. 2/16/38 Letter from [1472] to EC: “Wednesday Night at Home.

“Feeling sure such procedure would meet with your approval [1468] showed me your recent Palestine rdg. when here in my apt. with me last night. As written Gladys this afternoon, I knew when I first met [1468] some three yrs. ago that I had known her before, and there has been an unusual bond between us ever since. I felt the same when I met you, so I am not surprised that I knew you in Palestine, as well as during my Egyptian sojourn. Since your rdg. says that I was [1468]‘s teacher during part of her Palestine sojourn, and that Elizabeth, and Mary, (the Mother of Jesus) also taught her it would be interesting to know if those two women are also on the earth plane now, and if so who they are. Do you know?

“You said you wondered just what I taught [1468]. Could it have been other than the truths propounded by Jesus, since it was not until after his ministry that I became [1468]‘s teacher? In view of my rdgs. and the knowledge of my own association with Jesus - its close nature - and the fact that my rdg. says that I spent my life ‘in giving better interpretations of His teachings to the Holy Women and the Twelve Disciples’ after the crucifixion, along with proclaiming the truths taught by the Master in my writing, surely that was the teaching given [1468] at that time.

“I had wondered considerably, however, about my teaching of Jesus himself before his ministry began, and you may be interested in the result of a bit of investigation re. the work of teaching, healing, prophecy and writing in which I was engaged before that, while with the Essenes. At that time the Jews were under a domination of Rome which proved more harassing even than that of Egypt. It was harsh and oppressive. In that atmosphere I lived with the Essenes, being (according to my reading) writer, recorder, teacher, healer and prophetess to that group. Now the slogan of the Essenes was THROUGH PURITY TO DIVINE GLORY. Their aim was the redemption of the people, and their belief that freedom came through mystical power. To this end I was taught from my childhood, you will remember. The procedure of the Essenes included the purification of the body to make it a fit Temple of the living God. They were all devotees of the higher life, and their chief mission was the PREPARATION OF THE POPULAR MIND FOR THE COMING OF JESUS AND HIS TEACHING. That preparation was my work, so I can but conclude that it was on the same spiritual path I set the feet of the little Lord Christ during the years I was privileged to teach Him. Thus prepared Jesus became a concrete illustration in the flesh (‘the Word made flesh’) of one who had attained the condition of fulfillment on all points depicted in scripture and thus became the most Christed man the world has ever known, - and, of course, the greatest Teacher. That evolution having taken place HE became the TEACHER and I THE STUDENT, - until after the crucifixion when I would seem to have interpreted His teachings for the Disciples, and to others in lands near and far.

“All this I have cited because of your comment to [1468] in your letter to her, regarding your wonder as to WHAT I TAUGHT. I know what I taught, but I HAVE A WONDER NEVERTHELESS. That wonder is that I know so much and seem (here) to have the opportunity to do so little. The rdgs. say I shall once more proclaim the same truths I taught then to the whole world, - and I can see the possibility, - but thus far the opportunity seems not to have presented itself,

• except in a limited way.

“Also I believe growth to be a part of God’s Law of Progress and it does not seem to me I am nearly so fine a person here and now as I was then in Palestine, and this puzzles me no end.”

R8. 2/21/38 Letter from EC to [1472]: “To say thank you for yours of 16th is putting it so mildly, doesn’t seem quite enough. But know so few other words that express just that. They will have to do. Was quite the thing for you and Mrs. [1468] to discuss the rdg. - that was why I sent it. Want all the impression that may have, or the reactions it may bring to those that were evidently so vitally interested at that time - and who have something to do about it at this. As have told you before, had the impression when met you had known you before. Have tried to analyze just the feeling, or rather put it into words before but was like this - when I was a little boy, used to go to my grandmothers, thought she was a very wonderful person. She always had so many unexpected things to tell me, and goodies of every kind that she kept for me, it seemed to me there was no one just like her, - Now do not mean to imply that you appeared as a grandma at all - but that security that her presence brought, that ability to give counsel that was beyond question that was as from the sages - such as a grandmother may impart. Do you get just that shade of meaning I am trying to describe? Well that is how you impressed me - so of course it carried that feeling of both awe and reverence, yet a loving closeness, no other way of expressing it to me would be just what I mean. And when I wondered what you taught Mariaih [Mariarh] [1468], was certainly not as to whether it was truth as propounded by Jesus or not - but as evidently was the teachings of Paul that made me [294] put her away as my wife - but you made it the thing that we should be united again - wonder what you feel when you read Paul along those lines. Guess that would give an insight as to what you must have taught.

“Have never had the opportunity to read up on what the Essenes taught. My only physical knowledge of such was a study of the scriptures with a very old Rabbi who claimed to have many books written by the Essenes - tho never saw any of them, he would merely quote from them especially as we read the early part of the gospels, but what you say makes it all the more interesting, but wish could have good long talk with you about all this. Am in hopes we may have the opportunity to get more of the activities in which you must have been engaged during that period, and want to at some time get just the question asked - what did you teach ‘Mariarh’ [1468] that was so different from what Paul taught. Possibly that is curiosity, but feeling that I can almost grasp it yet can’t, prompts me to ask the question.

“You do so little? are you not belittling yourself, when the crucifixion was over - what do you suppose Peter ? James and John felt had been accomplished - not much. And about the last admonition given Peter was ‘feed my sheep’, that you are doing very beautifully, why not leave the increase in the hands of HIM who can only give real increase. Know how you feel tho, for there comes times when others say to me My Oh My, if what you are supposed to be were true - how much faster the work would grow and you should never want for a thing - material, mental or spiritual. But what are the physical facts - and am not trying to excuse myself, not even trying to justify myself, just want facts - but facts from HIS way with me, not mine.

“Growth - sure must be a part of divine law, but who are we to judge, as to whether this or that is in advance of another experience. It is evident that the man Jesus was Melchesidek

• if bible record true - now as one to whom the Jews paid tribute of their own free will because he was the Prince of Peace, and the man Jesus whom they crucified - where was the evolution - from the finite mind?

“Well [1470] had to make his own choice. Hope he chose wisely and well. Personally feel a tang of disappointment, and know shouldn’t, so won’t. May God bless him in every way. My feeling of being torn between two ways dissolves itself as try and explain my attitude, hard way perhaps from the physical angle, but right. So why should I ever waver or become fearful?

“Hope you are feeling much better physically, and that all is WELL…”

R9. 2/25/38 Letter from [1472] to EC: “I am writing you in my office so am warning you in advance in case inevitable interruptions result in incoherencies. I would always prefer writing you at home, but seldom feel fit for personal correspondence after adding fume baths, radio active appliance treatment and Dr. Miller, - as the case, - or cases, may be - at the end of such days as I put in at the office.

“Having thus apologized in advance for possible inadequacies, I may proceed to tell you that I was deeply stirred by your letter. Your analysis of the sort of place into which I slipped in your consciousness when first you met me is most illuminating, and would seem to check with what we know of our Palestine association. If I was who and what my reading says during that sojourn you probably picked your first impression of me (when meeting me in this present experience) out of your memory, being drawn by bonds of love welded two thousand years ago by my understanding of your problem, and my help to you in adjusting a situation messed up by Brother Paul.

“I never was keen about that guy! So, I delight in the knowledge that sometime, somewhere I upset his apple cart! In my opinion he was a narrow, bigoted theologian filled with intolerance, - following the LETTER more than the SPIRIT of the teachings of Jesus. I having been so close to Jesus, and (according to my rdg. on the Palestine incarnation) ‘given a better interpretation of His teachings to His disciples and the Holy Women after the crucifixion’, I probably disapproved Paul’s approach to those teachings then as much as I do now. If so I undoubtedly instructed both you and Mariairh IN THE SPIRIT RATHER THAN IN THE COLD LETTER OF THE LAW, and thus showed you the rightness of your reunion. At least this would seem to be the pattern indicated by our combined readings, and it is certainly most interesting.

“You speak of an old Rabbi who claimed to have many books written by the Essenes altho you never saw them. Is he living? And if so do you know where to reach him? I ask because my Palestine reading instructed me to study all I could find of the little still in existence which was written by the Essenes. My first life reading says I was writer as well as prophetess and healer for this group, so some of the things preserved may be translations of my own writing at that time. If so I should certainly like to find them. I went to the library here and found but two things translated into English, and those two were commentaries on the Essenes written by present day writers, and nothing whatever by way of translation of anything written by any member of that group. Hence my question to you regarding your Rabbi.

“I do not agree with you that your wanting to know how my teaching differed from that of Paul is ‘curiosity.’ I would say a perfectly legitimate interest rather. And certainly a natural one since it restored you and my friend [1468] to a normal and happy life.

“It is heart-warming to me to know that I have given you a feeling of ‘security’ in my presence. That comes partially from our Palestine association, and partially from my present recognitions of Spiritual Truth I think. By the latter I mean my concept of life, which includes some realization that man CANNOT be separated from God because HE IS GOD IN EXPRESSION. It is BECAUSE of this recognition that I gave you the Troward book. I think it will give you some interesting illuminations regarding the Bible, and I hope you will wade through it, even though you don’t care much for reading. I suggest this, - not dictatorially, but as a friend.

“Yes, [1470] had to make his choice. But a week ago last night he married, and already has reverted to the old selfish and self-centered path, - the path he left awhile to walk my way with me. Well, Isaiah tells us (in the name of God:) ‘They must all know me, - from the greatest unto the least’, so no matter how long, or how far one may wander from the path of Light and Truth and unselfed Love, - SOMEHOW, SOMETIME that one will be brought back to it, and ‘a thousand years are but as a day in the sight of God.’ So I leave [1470] on the door-step of Divine Love to achieve an evolu tion in which he no longer seems to want my help - at least proterm.

“I am looking forward to Hugh Lynn’s arrival and some nice talks with him. Gladys spoke when here - and in her last letter to me - of the possibility of my spending Easter there. I see no way to achieve this at the moment, but who can tell what will evolve before then? Anyway the thought keeps coming into my mind to take my three weeks vacation this year in May (my birthday month) spend a few days in Washington, a day or so in a visit to my home in Virginia, and the rest at Virginia Beach. If I did this I could not come again in June to the Congress, but I had (selfishly) rather be there when you are not deluged with other people, as there would be so many demanding your time at the Congress I would see little of any of you in the intimate way I would want to see and talk with you.

“Well, we’ll leave all this on the door-step of Divine Love for solution - along with [1470]!

“And now I must be getting up to Dr. Miller for my third treatment. I am beginning to see improvement, and am very hopeful of real results.

R11. 5/29/38 [1472]‘s letter to EC from Banff Springs Hotel, Banff, Alberta, Canada: “Here I am in the Canadian Rockies where your letter of May 25th reached me, altho I did not stop at the Mount Royal Hotel as intended. It was not a very good one, so I persuaded Mr. Deyell, Manager of the beautiful Banff Springs Hotel to take me in altho the hotel does not open to the public until June 4th. From my window I look out across the surging Bow Falls, and the Bow River, across to the snow-capped mountains, and I confess I have never seen anything more beautiful in all Europe, altho I must also confess this Continent lacks the GLAMOUR of the old world. Expansive; replete with gorgeous scenery; it yet lacks the CHARM of Switzerland, and the Italian resorts. It is my own idea that it has a different vibration because it is a so much newer country, - not yet in the same cultural class as the Continent across the Atlantic.

“I wanted very much to go to Switzerland this summer, but could not locate a friend who has been in Paris all winter, and with whom I wanted to go, so decided to see the West of the United States and Canada instead. I had great fun in Hollywood, having many friends there, and your comment re. the writing end of the movie game reminds me to tell you that I was approached about it while in Hollywood, having a very satisfactory talk with the head of the story department of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures. I left the matter in the hands of a very good Hollywood Agent to see if he can put over the sort of contract I feel I must have to give up everything in New York and go to the Coast. I have not heard from him, - but there it is.

“In Hollywood I spent about half my time with [2505] [See 2505-1 5/21/41]. He invited me to move into his home, - bag and baggage, but I felt I would be freer to keep a hotel headquarters. However, I did eat most of my lunches and dinners, and spent most of my evenings in his home. I don’t know if you are acquainted with his work. He is a metaphysical writer and lecturer who gave five hundred consecutive lectures to capacity audiences in New York two years ago, and who has since bought a home and is living in Hollywood. He does not believe we are here for DEVELOPMENT but for EXPRESSION, and that we will bring into life the fullness of everything in proportion to our RECOGNITION of our oneness with the Father. He believes we should have complete freedom in ample funds; ample expression; ample service, - ample everything, and would certainly seem to have brought it into manifestation for himself. He is the very epitome of joy, and surrounds himself with most interesting people. He has written 30 successful metaphysical books, and has traveled all over the earth at will. If he hasn’t a cent and decides to go to India he just picks up and goes, and there is always the supply for his every demand. He has been a close friend of mine for several years, so it was a joy to have him in Hollywood during the ten days I was there.

“While in Hollywood I met a rather remarkable clairvoyant through [2505]. She made some amazing statements to me, among them being that I will marry [1151] during this present earth experience. She described him perfectly and even told me his name. I told her I wouldn’t marry again in any conditions and that certainly I couldn’t marry [1151] as he already has a wife. I was told that I will nevertheless have the opportunity to become his wife as [1158] will pass on within the year. Since this woman never saw me before; didn’t even know my name or that I didn’t live in Hollywood, all this was rather remarkable. When next I have a reading from you I shall check several things she told me, - this one about [1151] included. Of course I am fond of him as a friend, but I haven’t the SLIGHTEST romantic interest in him. Please say nothing to anyone of all this. I personally think it is ‘the bunk’, and am interested in it only because the same woman who told it to me described my whole trip West; said I would be tempted to stay in Hollywood (as I was) instead of going on for the rest of my trip, and begged me NOT to stay there, as she said MY HEALTH DEMANDED MY COMING HERE WHERE I WOULD GET AT LEAST SOME OF THE REST I NEED. ALL OF WHICH WAS TRUE.

“I have been reading ‘The Adept of Gallilee’, which claims that Jesus was a great Yogi, and has a lot to say about the Akashic Records. If you get a chance to read it I think it would be of peculiar interest because of your own work…

“I read both my life rdg. [1472-1 & 1472-3] and my Palestine one to [2505] and he is greatly interested in knowing you when he comes East again, which will probably be this Fall. I so want him to have a life reading.”

R12. 6/7/38 Letter from [1472] to EC: “I am inclosing questions for my new reading. I have asked twenty in the order of their importance to me - or perhaps it might be better say in the matter of their interest to me. Since I WANT A FULL TIME READING ON QUESTIONS ALONE I presume a good many are permissible. If some of them seem repetitious to you it is because I have asked them the second time in a different way to make sure I get a definite answer. In answering all the questions regarding my work in both my other readings I was given a great spiritual impetus and valued it, but what I want most of all is some advice and help as to how to break what seems to be a continuous obstruction to my writing, and now a complete block to my radio work. I am at present doing quantities of routine stuff that any intelligent person could do as well, while my real gifts are folded away in a napkin through no apparent fault of my own. I want to know what steps I can and should take to correct this situation, and I wish very much Hugh Lynn would read my questions before my rdg. and insert any other he thinks would bring this out, and do it up near the front so as to be sure to get it answered.

“You will find some very personal questions, that re [1151] being asked to check what was told me by the California clairvoyant. Of course you will hold them all in confidence I know, so I feel free to ask them, altho I don’t just like the idea of SUCH A READING going into your files. Has any one except the family access to such files?

“I could have the rdg. any time between two and five this Saturday (June 11th) should you have an hour to spare that afternoon. Or anytime at all (morning OR afternoon) the following Saturday (June 18th). If neither of these days are possible to you I will make it possible any other afternoon you say, - just give me enough advance notice so I can arrange to go home for it. I will go to my apartment, … St., Apt. 111, Hotel … for the reading.

“I am also inclosing a suggestion for the subconscious impression but it is ONLY A SUGGESTION. Reword it as you, Gladys, Mrs. Cayce and Hugh Lynn think best.

“I am writing this in my office so cannot take time to answer your letter at this writing. I will do so later. In the meantime thank you for it. I judged from what you said therein [1151] is having a reading Friday (?) I was out there for supper Sunday night, and thought he looked very badly. My love to all the family and heaps to you…

R15. 7/28/39 Letter from EC to [1472]: “Thank you for yours of the 26th - first want to thank you for your kindness and courtesies to Gertrude and Sister [Miss Annie Cayce] - think they must have had a good time, Sister left for home in Nashville, this morning - she enjoyed meeting you and wishes me to thank you for her.

“As they had only the one day and night at the fair - was hard for them to get back to the city I judge. But thank you just the same.

“Don’t know as yet, but think will spend a day or so at the [1602]‘s and then will possibly come on to N.Y. for a day and back home that way if so hope to see you even for a moment.

“Well just hope the Cadicacy [Candidacy?] doesn’t break before Mr. [1151] is ready for it, and if it can come out of the East for a Western man - then he has a chance and believe HE is the man that may save the country just now.

“Hope your programme goes over big. Wish could tune in on it. Haven’t been able to get it as yet, and possibly can’t at that time of day, but just the same am sure you will have a plenty of boosters.

“Think the Scouts were delayed - you possibly have heard from them though before this, H. L. is very zealous about his scouts.

“Glad to hear from Mrs. [510] - please give her my regards when you see her again. A very lovely lady I think.

“Yes - you know I will be glad to try and do anything for you

• and had an impression almost immediately - may not be worth a thing but here it is. As one grows more and more spiritual
• old forms - old conditions come to the subconscious. And this arises, from the condition of anxiety you had when you knew the edict - had gone out for all male children to be slain, when as ‘JUDY’ you were so anxious about Jesus. The baby boy. Now it comes in the form of the oppressions - for your doubts. Put it all back on full time faith, and those experiences will soon turn into - things to be done about children of today. Then you will have a real job before you, but one you can do well.

“This may be far afield - but is in keeping with that you quote from the LIFE reading. Yet - requires study to put such a version on same am sure - But believe that is the basis of the experiences.

“Thanks again for everything - appreciate your taking time to write when you are so busy - but your letters help a lot.”

R16. 8/1/39 Letter from [1472] to EC: “So many thanks for your prompt reply to my last letter. You will be interested to know that I spent a night-o’-dreams (right after you got it) among the most beautiful flowers. I was in gardens many, and saw such rare plants and gorgeous blooms as I never saw with my waking eyes. It was certainly a vivid contrast to my many dreams of children being tortured or brutally treated, and I was sure some release had come through you. Just what or how I still don’t know, but not since I wrote you have I had a single night of suffering over children. I mean just what or how you accomplished it, or if you did. I certainly feel you had a lot to do with it, and I only hope the release is permanent.

“Psychiatrists would probably say my SHARING the experience with someone close to me broke the thing. They put great store in bringing everything up out of the subconscious mind to the conscious mind, for as long as it stays hidden away, and submerged, it holds one in some sort of bondage.

“Your letter swept my mind with a great light as to the possible EXPLANATION. I think you must be absolutely right in the analysis and conclusion you reached. Curious I never connected my Palestine sojourn with this hideous experience about children here. Not even since I’ve known about Palestine (of course I couldn’t be expected to connect it before I had the Reading). I think it would greatly interest you to refresh your memory about that Reading, as my connection with the Wise Men at that time, and with Herod would seem to have incited Herod to the massacre of the children. Or had something to do with it. I wish very much

• if you have time - you would read what it says about it yourself in my Palestine ‘Reading’, for - now that you mention it - it does seem to give a clear reason for my present great yearning to help children, and free them from cruelty and injustice. Last summer, in my ‘all-question reading,’ I [l472-6, Par. 31-A] asked how I could do it. You might like to look at that answer to that question too - in connection with all the rest of this. The correlation of my Life Reading: Palestine Reading and this one question asked in my ‘all question reading’ last July would make an interesting and amazing story. R17. 8/3/39 Letter from EC to [1472]: “Thanks for yours of the first - and as am trying to get away tomorrow or the next day, will try and write a line or so today.

“My Oh My - can I but have such pleasant effect on one so worthy - as to make you dream of flowers and everything beautiful, must go (father devine) and say Happy am I.

“Am having some very interesting experiences with Dr.’s who are treating a patient [See 1969- and 1969-2], the Psychiatrist - have worked on - by using Hypnotism they are bringing back experiences given in his life reading, now if this works - well it will possibly be a proof to some of the information regards life readings.

“I read over your readings, again in the first LIFE reading [1472-1] - will have to say can’t even imagine such knowledge coming from my lips - though know of course full well it is not of my conscious mind. Also the questions about that period. And am more convinced than ever that must be correct

• as to your superconscious taking up the experiences of that period when so many were saddened by the experience, and some must have blamed you for inciting the edict. And you must have for the moment at least censured yourself. Do hope that the suggestion as it told you in another place ‘being forewarned - you would be forearmed’ and thus it will be changed into something more significant as to your development at this time. Lets just hope and pray that will be the case - and leave the results to HIM who is able to bring to our ‘rememberance all things’.

“Hope to get away tomorrow or next day at least think we - Edgar Evans and I will go to Washington, stop and see a friend who has builded a new home - they have asked me to Bless it for them [Louis and Peggy Poss] - and haven’t allowed any one to cross the threshold until I do come. Then on to Alexandria Bay - am to meet Mr. [1564] there and stay with them a few days. Then if possible come back by N.Y. if so of course will see you, and will make it on a Saturday or Sunday if possible, so that might have the more time with you.

“Thanks for the folder - and announcement of the Broadcast - so you have Mr. […] with you again. That will be fine and hope before the time is up you have a sponsor, for am sure it will go over big.

“Yes - think Tom Sugrue] is better - he is beginning to do a little work now and is gradually very gradually gaining the use of himself.

“Think Gertrude is going to try and go home to see her people while I am away, that will be nice for her, yet - for the first time makes me realize I have no people at home that care to see me. One feels a bit left out as they grow older

• but know that is very selfish for don’t suppose there are many people that has as many friends as I all over.

“Must go now some one has called that is to have a reading this morning.”
