This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the Kahn home in Scarsdale, N.Y., this 25th day of November, 1937 in accordance with request made by self - Edgar Cayce.

Time of Reading 7:10 to 7:35 P. M. …, N.Y.

1. GC: You will have before you the enquiring minds of those gathered here. You will give at this time information which will help us to understand the laws governing the selection by an entity of time, place, race, color, sex, and the parents at any rebirth into the earth plane - especially the possibility of Edgar Cayce, present in this room, bringing through in his next incarnation memory of this life. If possible we would like to be advised as to how proof of such memory can be established by leaving a record or money now that may be called for during the next appearance.

2. EC: Yes, we have the enquiring minds of those present here, as a group, as individuals - and those conditions as may be taken here from the records, the experiences or entrances of soul-entities into the material or earthly plane.

3. This condition, as has so oft been given, varies as to time - according to developments of entities as related to material expression of spiritual activities, or as to the manner or the character of the removal from the material experience.

4. As to race, color or sex - this depends upon that experience necessary for the completion, for the building up of the purposes for which each and every soul manifests in the material experience.

5. For as is generally accepted, and as is in greater part true, the experiences of a soul-entity in materiality, in the three-dimensional sphere of activity, are as lessons or studies in that particular phase of the entity’s or soul’s development.

6. Development for what? That it which the Giver of all good and perfect gifts gave the expressions in materiality when spirit had entangled itself in matter. Thus that which has been given: The will of the Father is that no soul shall perish, but that ALL shall come to know Him and He is. For God IS, and seeks that man should worship Him in spirit and in truth, even as He is Spirit, is Truth; not as a condition only but as an experience, as a manifestation.

7. As love is the expression for experiences in life manifested in the earth, so is the experience of the soul in the earth dependent upon that plane, that experience, as to its race or color or sex. For if there has been the error in that phase, in that expression, the error must be met. For indeed as has been given, whatsoever ye sow, so shall ye reap. And these are gathered only in the phases of experience in which the associations, the activities, the relations have been. Thus as there is continuity of life expression, so must it continue.

8. They who have done error suddenly, they who are advanced, they who have not met a whole expression may suddenly [reincarnate?] - as you count time.

9. As for the entity Edgar Cayce, this depends then as to when that experience has been reached in which the union of purposes of entities in materiality has created that expression, that phase, to which the entity’s development may reach to find expression through same. How did He give? As the tree falls, so does it lie.

10. Then as this entity builds in the present experience, creating that activity, that union, that expression of divine love toward the fellow men, then where that is left off - the period of expression is begun where it may take hold.

11. As to when - it may be perhaps a hundred, two hundred, three hundred, a thousand years - as you may count time in the present. This may not be given. For how gave He? The day no man knoweth, ONLY the Father in heaven knoweth it; and it is provided you so live, as He gave, that “I may sit upon the right hand and my brother upon the left.” These are not to be given; they are prepared for those who have through their meeting with their fellow men manifested that which brings them into that association, that consciousness, that unfoldment as to where they become, may become, that which may in the greater manner manifest that love of the Father to the children of men. As to when - no man knoweth; only the Father. Ready for questions.

12. (Q) Would you suggest any way that a record may be left by an entity? (A) By LIVING the record! For when the purposes of an entity or soul are the more and more in accord with that for which the entity has entered, then the soul-entity may take HOLD upon that which may bring to its remembrance that it was, where, when and how. Thinkest thou that the grain of corn has forgotten what manner of expression it has given? Think thou that ANY of the influences in nature that you see about you - the acorn, the oak, the elm, or the vine, or ANYTHING - has forgotten what manner of expression? Only man forgets! And it is only in His mercy that such was brought about. For what was the first cause? Knowledge - knowledge! What then is that cut off in the beginnings of the Sons of God? Becoming entangled with the daughters of men, and the Daughters of God becoming entangled with the sons of men! As in Adam they forgot what manner of men they were! Only when he lives, he manifests that life that IS the expression of the divine, may man BEGIN to know WHO, where, what and when he was!

That there may be read from the records of God’s Book of Remembrance, as from here, in the keepers of the records, is true - if thy purpose, thy desire, in heart, in soul, is for the love of God as may be manifested among the sons of men; but these may read only by those in the shadows of His love.

Dream of Edgar Cayce told on awaking from night’s sleep at the Kahn home, early Thursday morning, 12/2/37.

I was at home in Va. Beach, but there had been a STRONG ROOM built to the side and in the rear of the front of the house. In it there were great stacks of tablets, about 11 by 14, about an inch thick - clay tablets, all written in hieroglyphics. I especially noted that they were numbered from one to three in what appeared to be Roman characters but the rest were something different. There was also a mummie. All of these had been allowed to be brought back here by an expedition, that had been sent out by our Association. I remained with these findings and could hardly be persuaded to go away even to eat or do anything else but study them.

The members of the Board of the Association were arriving at the Beach. I saw Mr. Harrison with several men, most of them scientists or archaeologists; Mr. Parker with several; Mr. Johnston had only two but they were very dark men and seemed to be in oriental costume. When Lucille and Dave came with the others, Lucille had two East Indians with her; one was very smoothfaced, inclined to be rather fleshy, very smiling and very pleasant, but wore a turban which was white and gold; and the other was a very thin, very old man, with a long white beard, inclined to be stooped, and rather tall

• his turban was black and gold, with seemingly moon stars or star and crescent, but a very flat turban. Mr. Goetz had a lot of them but all seemed to be executives of some large group. Miss Wynne was very busy with a whole lot of people and was keeping them away from me. Alf Butler seemed to be acting as a guard, as was Mr. Poole. Florence and Edith Edmonds were dressed in very old costumes but were sitting in the room where I was, but seemed to be very quiet - just meditating. These people who had come to try to interpret were only let in one at a time, and were allowed to remain five days - each one. Many houses were built on all the land close by, little places for people to live in - and people were coming by the thousands. Then Mr. and Mrs. Zentgraf and Margret and Lilian came. Apparently it was Mr. Zentgraf who had headed the expedition to look for these tablets. It was through Mr. Harrison and Mr. Goetz and their associates that he had been allowed to bring them back to this country. It was decided that they would allow Mr. Zentgraf to lecture or tell the story of how the tablets and the body (mummie) were found. So a very large building was put up, similar to the one Mr. Whitehead has at the Beach but a good deal larger - on the point right above our house. Dave Kahn and Edgar Evans had charge of the doors letting people in, and they decided they would charge them to come to the lecture. I seemed to recognize these things going on about me but still remained with the tablets and the mummie. On one side to the East was a table on which the tablets were piled. It was a stack at least five feet high. The mummie in a very beautiful casket or sarcophagus was on the West side but facing the door, but was set up on a stand like a coffin. Mr. Zentgraf started and the crowds were going in to the lecture. That’s where I woke up.

Then I commenced again. It seems there had been a Reading to try to interpret the first tablet, that seemed to be the key that no one had been able to interpret. And there were such crowds they had been insistent that Hugh Lynn tell the crowd what had been said. I was alone in this place with the tablets and the figure, when I realized the figure was beginning to come to life. The figure had been dark and apparently painted over; this began to crack off like a shell, and I saw the upper left side of the face and left eye break first, and it was perfectly white - very dark hair, and very blue eyes. Gradually then I began to see - as I took the top off - that the paint was cracking off all over. I wondered how it could possibly come to life, as I thought within myself that all of the organs had been removed when it was embalmed. But it was very apparent that they had not been. It gradually kept moving and moving, until there was something like a convulsion; and the figure sat up. It spoke but I couldn’t understand the language. Apparently, then, from just under its arms to the knees, as it climbed out of the box, it was wrapped in very fine linen - and I understood from its motions that it wanted water; and I gave it a sip of water. Then it made a motion that I was to throw a quantity of water upon it. I drew a bucket of water and dashed it over the whole body; and it became clear, clean looking - and began to make motions and signs to me until I could understand what it was saying, or interpret the language, or it speak in a language I could understand. It asked for food, and it told me “I must have ground figs, dates, with corn meal, cooked in it with milk,” which I prepared and gave him - a little bit at the time. I knew that Hugh Lynn was talking over in the large building, and I told this person (didn’t know whether it was male or female) he must remain there and I would get someone else. I went out and closed the door, and walked over to the building - which was not far away. There appeared to be at least twelve or fourteen hundred people in the building, and Hugh Lynn was talking. Everybody seemed to be amazed when I walked in, and Hugh Lynn was telling of what was in the Reading - which had said we would only get the interpretation by the figure coming to life, which everybody knew was impossible as it had been dead at least fourteen thousand years. And I held up my LEFT hand, didn’t approach the platform very close, and called Hugh Lynn to come at once, that the figure was alive. HUNDREDS of the people in the building fainted, others fell back away from me as Hugh Lynn came down and joined me. And we walked over to the place. That’s where I woke up. [12/2/37 During A.M. rdg. 1434-1, a Life Rdg., dream continued:]

I had remained it seemed for days and days in the strong room, with no one except this person - whom now I knew to be a woman. There were cries and demands, and they outside were apparently unable to keep the throngs back - as there were literally THOUSANDS of people; newspaper people, cameramen, people from all over the world had come to get a glimpse, even, of the person who had come to life after being dead so long. Finally Gertrude came to the door and insisted on speaking to me, saying that it was all out of the question for me to stay in a room alone with a woman - or someone she didn’t know as to whether she was a man or woman, and it wasn’t right. And when I told her it was a woman, she was all the more determined I was not to stay there alone - for I now had been there for WEEKS. And I didn’t even go out to eat or anything; ate only this ground figs, ground dates, and corned meal cooked together with milk - which apparently was some other kind of milk than cow’s milk; neither did I know from where the supply came. [GD’s note: 2/10/38 See recipe in 275-45, Par. 10-A.] And when I told Gertrude that she (the person) was translating the tablet, and I was writing it on a typewriter, she insisted that I should let Miss Gladys come and do the writing; and I said she couldn’t interpret the tablets if there was anyone else there but me, that she had assured me she was the favorite daughter of Ra-Ta [2329?] and that I WAS Ra-Ta. We had about five of the tablets translated, which were giving a history of the period, and she insisted she must see every person first who had been in the Egyptian period as the Life Reading had given - and then we would talk to picture people and the newspaper people.

R3. 12/5/37 P.M. during Ck. Physical rdg. 275-44 EC had continuation of dream:

I was with this “risen” lady, or one that had come to life, in this strong room, reading the tablets; and we had come to where she had said, “I want all of those who feel they were in Egypt, from what you have given, and we will see how well the actual record here tallies with their interpretation of same from what you gave.” Outside there were more and more throngs of people, and as they kept insisting upon entrance, Hugh Lynn, Miss Gladys and Gertrude, Mr. Poole and Alf, were having a harder time keeping the people back; and they even had policemen. And as she saw the policemen pass she asked if some of them weren’t old Egyptians. Dave and Edgar Evans were making arrangements with reporters and newspaper people for interviews and making contracts for the moving picture people, some very high figures, and were very insistent - to all of those that were standing guard, as it were, at the door - that we must begin to give interviews and pictures. This girl or figure couldn’t understand why she was unusual. They began to clamor from the outside that they had not even examined the casket or sarcophagus, and were questioning Hugh Lynn and Edith and Florence especially.

That’s where I woke up.

R7. 3/14/38 Dream of Edgar Cayce, Monday morning:

I was a doctor-surgeon-chemist in Egypt - not Ra-Ta but at another period, later. I operated on my friend’s wife after she died and saved her unborn baby; I knew she had been my daughter when I was Ra-Ta, and I was able for that reason to secure her dead body and cut out the child - a baby girl. I put it under glass and fed it nourishment (which I brewed from hay, leaves, etc.) through the umbilical cord and the viscera which I had cut from the mother and which were still around the baby - with the lungs, heart, liver, kidneys, etc. of the mother. People were clamoring outside, wanting to mob me but afraid they would hurt the baby. I knew who the people were then and who they are now, but couldn’t remember when I woke up. This much of the dream was recalled to me when looking at a magazine during the day, when I saw the name Pythagoras - which seemed similar to my name then.

R8. 5/1/41 Extract from 2329-3 re. her Egyptian incarnation as Ra-Ta’s daughter:

”…It was this entity, this body, that was visioned in this present experience by that entity who was the Priest, as being that channel through which much of the tenets of that particular period might be made known to people in the present…”

See [2329]‘s letter of warning to EC in November 1944 - which he was then too ill to see - re. conserving his strength and not attempting to give readings for the hordes then seeking as a result of T.I.R.

R23. 10/24/38, Monday night, EC had a dream which he dictated to GD the next morning - said he dreamed this cough syrup for his cold:

To 4 tablespoonfuls boiling water add: Honey (strained)…1 tablespoonful, Compound Simple Syrup…1 tablespoonful, Glycerine…10 drops, Creosote…2 drops, Syrup of Horehound…1 teaspoonful, Tolu in Solution…15 drops, Compound Tincture Benzoin…30 drops, Whiskey…2 ounces.

R31. 1/12/40 During 2076-1 EC on awaking said he would know this girl if he saw her on the street; described her as fair-haired, red face, big nose - kind of red; sort of breaking out on face; puffy looking face, around eyes, etc.

R32. 1/13/40 Around 3:00 o’clock A.M., EC dreamed: [See 5749-5 on 5/1/34.]

Someone came to me and said, “Do you want to go to a meeting?” I said, “I don’t know, I don’t go out very much.” The person said to me, “This is a very unusual meeting, I think you will enjoy it.” I asked, “Who is going to be there?” He said, “The Master is going to speak.”

We went to the meeting, and it was in the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life. We entered a dark hallway, but not a long hall. The light in it was very dark blue, opalescent, and made our flesh look purple. As I looked at the people, I realized that all of them had passed on, - no one was there in the flesh except myself. I didn’t know the person who had asked me to come.

With me and around me were mostly preachers, - Mr. Moody, Mr. Smith, Mr. Jones, and many of those who had been ministers in the earth, and ones I had known.

I couldn’t see the light, but realized that it came from a Voice that spoke. No one was sitting. There were no benches or chairs. Everyone was standing. All were dressed in robes. It was the Lord speaking, - but He could not be seen. He said, “Who will go to bring peace again on earth?”

Then Jesus stepped forward, and said: “I will go. It is time for me to go again into the earth to strengthen my brethren; not to be born in the earth, though there will come forth from our friend here (referring to me) a messenger that will proclaim my day.”

Then I woke up.

11/23/37 LOS ANGELES: “Arthur M. Hanks, who made a fortune peddling flowers in the Los Angeles financial district, left no will because he believed he would return through reincarnation and claim his life’s savings. He has been dead seven months now, and today Judge Joseph P. Sproul opened the way for relatives to divide the flower peddler’s $100,000 estate.”
